Our Designation of Origin – D.O. Almansa - was established in 1966. At that time there was a decline in overall wine production in the area, as small vineyards ceased production, leaving D.O. Almansa wine production in the hands of small scale vineyards and cooperatives. However, recently there has been a resurgence of wine production in the region, giving new life to D.O. Almansa; an area advantageously located for production of high quality wines. Today there are 12 wine cellars that carry the D.O. Almansa with an output of 2.7 million bottles per year, which are winning a following in over 25 countries.
